"Shires the toilt tht does not flush"

I bought a Denbigh toilet pan and the water just falls straight down the back. I removed it and found the middle hole in the back was 18mm. so the water went straight through it instead of going to the two side holes to swirl round the rim.My old toilet had centre hole of 8mm and it worked fine using the same cistern..
